Sum Theatre celebrates 5 years with a huge Summer season

By Britainy Zapshalla, Sum Theatre

Sum Theatre is making a splash this summer as they celebrate their fifth season of Theatre in the Park. They have two free shows for you to enjoy this summer!

Saskatoon’s summer tradition of gathering in local parks to watch live, professional theatre continues with an original adaptation of a Syrian folk tale. In The Woodcutter and the Lion a severe drought forces a Woodcutter to travel to the only place where there is still wood to cut: an island where a dangerous Lion lives. A heartwarming story about friendship, Theatre in the Park runs July 3rd – 28th in parks all around Saskatoon and is free of charge.

For the first time ever, Saskatoon audiences will have the opportunity to participate in live theatre in a swimming pool! Theatre in the Pool celebrates the 150th anniversary of Confederation July 19th-21st at George Ward Pool. Come for a free swim and watch a play!

Sum Theatre’s ultimate goal is to have the opportunity to improve the lives of every single person in Saskatoon. Be part of SUMthing great and donate today to their free summer plays, their school drama programs and other community building experiences.

As always Congregation Agudas Israel and friends will be the first to see our Theatre in the Park production with a special preview Sunday July 2nd @ 7pm behind the synagogue in Raoul Wallenberg Park.
