Whatever the season, it’s always warm at Congregation Agudas Israel. Our prairie community is vibrant, inviting, and inclusive. Our present synagogue was built in 1958, but we have been a Jewish community since 1912.
Congregation Agudas Israel is an egalitarian, welcoming, progressive community, affiliated with the United Synagogues for Conservative Judaism. We maintain a weekly Shabbat minyan that is always followed by a delicious luncheon, freshly made in our own kitchen. Our afternoon Hebrew school is included in our membership package, and we offer classes from kindergarten to bar and bat mitzvah. During the year we follow the Jewish calendar with fun family programs including a Chanukah spiel, book fair, Purim party, lunch in the sukkah (weather permitting) and so much more! Our annual Yom HaShoah program caters to over 2000 school children and another 500 adults. This year it received the gold medal of excellence from the United Synagogue. (Solomon Schecter Award) We offer adult education classes; we’re involved in the citywide Folk Fest event; we even have yoga classes!
Our Board of Directors is mindful of the Jewish commitment to tikkun olam- repairing our world. As such we involve ourselves in the outside world through outreach to our local community, through our contributions to global relief efforts. We actively support the State of Israel and benefit by many of the program that comes out of that country to us.
